What’s not to love about The Fallout? I think it’s one of the most detailed and realistic war fics out there; definitely one of the best in my opinion.
I really like that it’s told from Hermione’s point of view, but as third person. It’s almost like reading the books only it’s not Harry’s POV. I love the build up for Draco and Hermione as well; it really takes us on an incredible journey with them. I did find that it started out a bit slow but started picking up after Draco and Hermione kiss for the first time around chapter 7 or 8.
Although it does skip days in between, I found that the pacing was good and that I wasn’t missing any details in between from the missing days that everythursday didn’t write about. I also like the character interactions and that they are a good mix of characters, not the usual ones, although I wish that Luna had survived! She’s one of my favorite characters so it would’ve been nice to see her around. Also, while I’m on the topic of characters, as you can see from the list above, many characters and some original characters have been used. Even if some only showed up once or twice, I must commend everythursday for taking on so many characters! I’ve seen a lot of fics use a lot of characters and many of them get forgotten about throughout the story. Here, you see them pop up from time to time, even if it’s just to mention them or say that they have died.
Despite it being the time of war, it also includes some happy and fun scenes. I really love the scenes that Draco and Hermione have together. Anyway, I think near the end some of us were starting to get worried! But fear not, it has a beautiful and happy Dramione ending :D
